BSS Industrial - we are a leading distributor of heating, pipeline, process and mechanical services equipment to the Building Services and Industrial sectors.  Established over 110 years ago, we became a part of the Travis Perkins Group in 2010 and now have more than 50 BSS branches nationwide, along with a National Distribution Centre at Lutterworth in the East Midlands and a National Tube Distribution Centre in Coventry.  We have a wealth of experience in our people - technical support, customer care, product engineering and design along with our market leading own brand - BOSS.

Our FORS Gold accredited primary fleet services all our branches nationwide from our Distribution Centres based in Lutterworth and Coventry; our order by 5PM in branch/collection 6AM next day service offering is critical to our business customer proposition. 

The role

Transport Coordinator (12 months Fixed Term) 

Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, you will support the Transport Operation across 2 x NDC’s, 28 x routes c.30 drivers including outbases operating 24/5, ensuring an efficient and smooth operation whilst achieving service levels within time and budgetary constraints.

You will work a shift pattern of rotating 7-3 - 1-9 Monday to Friday.
 
You will interact with all driver activities, including performance management, shift briefs and debriefs, and also ensure that all legislation documentation is in place.  You will also update the fleet schedule whilst ensuring that all vehicles are serviced and maintained when required, interacting with our service partners to ensure that our high quality Scania fleet and bespoke trailers are maintained to the highest industry standards.

In this role you will be a leader of our ‘Stay Safe’ culture by championing and driving first class safety standards across our distributions centres and branches.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will:

  • Have worked in a traffic/ transport office with at least 2 years experience, and have first class communication skills to engage effectively with our excellent team of drivers, both face to face and remotely, Supply Chain colleagues, suppliers and partners
  • Have experience of working with eVC, onboard vehicle monitoring systems, driver comms devices, etc.
  • Be hands-on, and a proactive and pragmatic problem solver
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and administration skills with great attention to detail
  • Be able to prioritise a significant workload in a fast paced environment, engaging with a wide range of transport actions and tasks.
Full training will be provided, including access to our extensive iLearn suite of online resources, but we would welcome candidates with CPC Transport Manager qualifications.

Having your own transport is essential for regular travel between the sites.
