How important is this role to the business
Joining our friendly and hard working family as an experienced Transport Supervisor, the successful candidate would lead a team of HGV Drivers, all responsible for ensuring stock is moved efficiently and safely both within the branch and out delivering to customers. You’ll make sure we deliver our products on time, in full, every time to local customers that expect the best from one of the largest suppliers of building materials. It means keeping a close eye on costs, resources and efficiency. In short, making sure everything runs like clockwork.
But it’s not just a case of planning deliveries. You’ll need to coach your team and make sure they provide a first‐class, professional service. The biggest priority is safety, so you’ll also check that Drivers comply with the law and that vehicles are inspected.
What will I be doing?
No one day is the same as the next in TP branch life, but here are a few pointers:
The Kingswinford branch opening hours are Monday to Friday between the hours of 06:00 – 20:00 and Saturday 07:00 – 12:00. Colleagues work across 2 shifts, generally these are 06:00 - 14:00 and 12:00 - 20:00. Your role will usually cover the earlier shift Monday - Friday and every other Saturday. You may be required to work different hours occasionally.
Responsible for the Compliance and efficient management of the branch transport operation and the improvement of driver standards
Ensure all transport related risk assessments, training records, driver licenses and other Health and Safety documentation is checked periodically. Follow up action as necessary.
Responsible for ensuring full compliance for vehicles and drivers, the reporting and management of accidents
Meeting agreed Transport/Fleet targets - utilisation and capacity targets
Planning / routing deliveries
You’ll be a true leader, capable of developing and motivating your direct reports
You’ll need to coach your team and make sure they provide a first‐class, professional service
Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, by adhering to all stay safe policies and procedures. Including checking that Drivers comply with the law and that vehicles are inspected in line with company and governing body procedures
Working with the whole branch team to ensure great customer service is achieved.
Playing a key part in stock management including goods in and out, and stock take.
What experience do you need?
To succeed, you’ll need to be the kind of colleague who:
Has a proven experience of managing a small to medium Transport fleet
Creates high‐performing, engaged and motivated teams
Has good organisational skills
Advantageous to have an understanding of CPC driver modules
Along with having the ability to provide great customer service and have experience in a similar role, we can teach you the rest.
