BSS is a leading distributor of heating, pipeline, process and mechanical services equipment to the Building Services and Industrial sectors. Established over 100 years ago, we became a part of Travis Perkins plc in 2010 and now have 50 BSS branches nationwide, along with Distribution Centres based in Lutterworth and Coventry. 

Working alongside and supporting our Transport Manager as we work through a restructure, the successful candidate will support the day to day running of a fast paced internal transport operation. Our BSS transport team comprises c.30 HGV Drivers and 2 Transport Co-Ordinators, all responsible for ensuring that stock is moved efficiently and safely between DC and our branches on our fleet of 20 Scania units, 23 trailers and 4 rigids, as well as backhaul operations from suppliers.

We’re looking for someone to come in and hit the ground running. You’ll have worked in a similar environment before, bringing your skills and expertise to benefit and develop our operation. You’ll be very hands on, building relationships with stakeholders and key contacts from the off - you’ll work closely with our drivers, fleet maintenance partners, branch teams and supplier contacts. We’re a small team and we all pull together to deliver an exceptional service to our branches.  FORS Gold accredited, we take the condition and safety of our fleet and drivers very seriously.

Our Coventry (Cross Point) transport operation runs during the day, primarily delivering tube to our branches during daytime hours. Our Lutterworth (Magna Park) transport operation runs during the night, with drivers being responsible for night time branch deliveries. 

The successful candidate would have managed similar sized operations previously, be H&S focussed, able to develop strong working relationships with key business stakeholders and have a strong understanding of vehicle/transport compliance. You’ll be a true leader, capable of getting things done.

Core working hours are Monday to Friday 0800 - 1700 and the base location would be our Distribution Centre at Magna Park, Lutterworth.
