Yard Customer Assistant

Joining our friendly and hard working family as an Yard Customer Assistant, you'll be on the front line dealing with our customers that come into our yard.  As part of the branch team, you will play a vital role in our continued success, providing a first class service.

Monday - Friday 07:30 - 17:00 & every other Saturday Morning

44.5 hours per week

Permanent Full - Time contract

What will I be doing?

No one day is the same as the next in TP branch life, but here are a few pointers:

• Our success is built on strong relationships with our customers so it’s essential that you can help deliver the highest standards of service - the key thing is to be helpful and friendly at all times, you will likely get to know our customers on a first name basis.

• You will be based outside, processing our customer orders, loading and unloading customer and company vehicles.

• You will also unload our building products from supplier deliveries and accurately book them in the branch warehouse.

• Experience of using a forklift is ideal, but don't worry full training is provided

• Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, this means maintaining a tidy and safe working environment

• The role will include training on our Combi Lift + Counterbalance and Telehandler

As part of this 12 month apprenticeship programme, you will gain a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Customer Service which is the equivalent of 5 GCSE passes. All of your learning is “on the job”, Travis Perkins values a work-life balance and there is no need for you to complete any of your work “out of hours”. The course consists of a number of modules and you will have a dedicated coach that will guide you throughout, as well as being supported by your line manager (and in my case a really supportive team who I consider to be my friends!) 

This role is 80% work base and 20% learning which is all completed within the working hours! No cutting into your social time!

• Sociable working hours, we’re looking for someone to work Mon to Fri 0730-1700 but can offer flexibility for the right person, and we don’t work Bank Holidays either.

Driving Licence would be desirable but not essential
