If so, we have the role for you - Software Development Manager within Group IT.
Working with, and as part of the wider Software Delivery function, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the successful delivery of software related initiatives and line managing a group of Software Engineers.
Some accountabilities of the role:
Engineering Mindset. Capable of managing a software development team with existing products and defined strategy. Able to clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and manage projects to deliver on time. Knows how to audit SDE work (code, design) to make sure results are high quality. Ensures technology solutions are testable, monitored, and maintainable. Able to lead a team of SDEs tasked with building or solving difficult software problems.
People Management. Knows how to manage the performance and develop software engineers. Able to create successful career pathways.
Software Engineering Sub-Profession - Be a key contributor to the management of the sub-profession of software engineering within the software delivery function.
Communication. Drives effective business and technical discussions. Write clear documentation. Able to create an engineering roadmap.
Service and Security - The testing of software systems must align with the technology objectives surrounding service and security. Play a leading role in considering and ensuring both elements in all that we do. surrounding service and security. Play a leading role in considering and ensuring both elements in all that we do.
Continuous Improvement - Using key performance indicators and metrics, identify and execute on areas for improvement and efficiencies on a continuous basis, balancing all demands and priorities across software delivery and from our external stakeholders.
Leadership - Work as part of the collective Software Delivery team, providing clear direction and reporting across all software related initiatives, and deliver against a common vision. Deputise for the Head of Engineering when required.
Contracts and Partners - A number of 3rd party partners will be utilised by software testing. Ensure alignment within standard ways of working as set out by the Software Engineering function, whilst understanding contractual obligations and agreements with the third party
