Solution Architect
Location - Northampton 
£Competitive + Bonus and Benefits 

We have an exciting new role to join our newly formed  IT department within the Plumbing and Heating division. This role will be based in the newly refurbished offices located at Harvey Reeves Road Northampton. 

The Role

The Solution Architect is accountable for the development, maintenance and execution of the systems architecture roadmaps, in support of the business objectives.

Principe Accountabilities
  • The delivery of solution architecture and design to support the plans of the business units of the group, identifying potential points of contention for missed activities and notifies project leadership of situation
  • Identify risks, assumptions, constraints, dependencies and requirements traceability within the system architecture and propose appropriate mitigation's and options
  • Identify new and evolving technologies, include them in the systems architecture where they can lead to commercial advantage and act as an evangelist for their take-up within IT developments
  • Work with the Enterprise Architect to communicate the systems architecture plan and the benefits that it will provide to the business units, and appropriately leverage re-usable assets such as enterprise principles, standards, policies, API frameworks, and micro services
  • Ensure that designs adhere to established architectural governance, attending as appropriate Design Authority and Architecture Review Board forums, and ensuring that  designs conform  to  preferred  technical  approaches,  benefit  the  business  and  will operate robustly and efficiently
  • Exercise   appropriate   judgement   in   system   selection   between   in-house development and packaged software solutions recognising the organisation’s policy of maintaining tight control of its ability to react
  • Actively support the Architecture Practice, including attending regular collaboration and review forums and generally engage with colleagues in order to ensure all TP architects are aware of, and contribute to, the architecture roadmap
  • Contribute to the evolution of the architecture design process, ensuring it is effective and efficient through maintaining the  artefacts,  principles  and  practice  documentation  to support the architecture design process

What you will have 
  • Contribute to the evolution of the architecture design process, ensuring it is effective and efficient through maintaining the  artefacts,  principles  and  practice  documentation  to support the architecture design process
  • It would be preferred  if you held a Recognised architecture accreditation such as TOGAF or Zachman Framework
  • Experience of providing consultancy to the business, designing and monitoring complex architectures and delivering architectural solutions to solve business requirements and concerns
  • Develop, coach and bring teams together through collaborative working
  • Experience of working within a multi-channel merchant or retail environment
  • Experience working to agile methodologies
  • Experience of delivering solutions utilising Java/C++/C# frameworks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, influencing, stakeholder management.
  • Strong hands-on implementation skills in contemporary technologies and methodologies, comfortable working at the detailed level in complex technical environments
  • Modelling processes, systems, data and infrastructure in UML and or other modelling languages
  • Experience of delivering Service Orientated Architecture design
  • Experience of delivering solutions utilising Java/C++/C# frameworks
  • Proven leadership skills to drive the future technology roadmap
  • Involved with technical user groups and appropriate vendors on their future roadmaps.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Systems architecture creation techniques, wide range of available technologies.
  • Self motivation to drive through a programme that reconciles and meets complex and competing demands
