Reporting to the recently appointed Managing Director (Hire) we are seeking an exceptional Head of Sales (Hire) candidate to focus on developing and driving customer focused hire sales plans across all channels including central sales, direct hire, managed services, branches and digital. With an inherent desire to provide a great customer journey this is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Travis Perkins team.
The role:
We have a 5 year plan of business growth and seek an experienced Head of Sales who, through confidence in approach from being the subject matter expert, is aligned to a naturally engaging style and building relationships with key stakeholders and customers alike. The role is wide and varied from securing and retaining multi year framework agreements to developing innovative new digital solutions to improve the customer journey - while maximising productivity and profitability. Forging strong relationships with the senior team, Regional Directors, Head Office & our suppliers and influencing change in our branch network you will be developing customer supply solutions and trading agreements, improving our “selling culture” across all channels.
People: managing a team of c15 (including Direct Hire Manager and Regional Leads) with indirect responsibility for 200+ branch hire managers and Area Sales Representatives
Budget: managing turnover of £150m+
Metrics: Performance of National Sales, Direct Hire, Managed Services, Regional Sales Team; and through the delivery of Hire Sales & Trading Profit Performance, Margin, Customer Participation, Rehire Performance / FM & Construction TP Contracts
The ideal candidate:
Bringing sales leadership expertise and with experience of matrix management and influencing of other teams e.g. regional sales team you will of course be an excellent communicator, influencer and a high level negotiator. You will bring industry and sector market knowledge which will influence a network of sales specialists. The development of the sales growth strategy for hire is your critical focus but you will also have people responsibilities - recruitment/inductions, performance reviews/management, coaching, objectives. All the time balancing the needs and opinions of a diverse group of stakeholders yet ensuring that the strategic goals of Hire are met, whilst enabling the local requirements of RD’s and the local branches; influencing branch behaviour and ways of working will be your forte.
